Donkey Skin was made in 1996. Shot on location in County Galway, Ireland, it was an experimental film work which explored the symbolism in traditional Arran knitting.The work featured Maeve O'Regan who had been an extra in The Quiet Man as a child. She became McIntosh's muse in Ireland. She later appeared in Eagle Eye.Donkey Skin was McIntosh's first moving image work and the film was screened at the Madrid International Women's Film Festval that same year.
